REDRUTH ARCHERS BEGINNERS' COURSES:
The Club welcomes beginners and will happily train them on our six week course. The broad content of the beginners' course is set down by our National Governing Body; the Grand National Archery Society (now Archery GB).
Course No.1 commencing Friday 26 March 2010 from 7:30pm to 8:30pm
Course No.2 commencing Wednesday 31 March 2010 from 7:30pm to 8:30pm
Venue: Former Richard Lander School, Highertown, Truro
Cost: £45
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE LAST SESSION (Week six) OF BOTH COURSES WILL BE HELD ON WEDNESDAY 5 May 2010 - 7:30pm to 8:30pm - AT THE CLUB FIELD.
Please e-mail cwn.paul@talktalk.net for an enrolment form to register for one of these courses.
All equipment needed for the course is provided by us within the cost of the course. At the end of the six-week period you will be invited to join our Club as a new member. At that time you would be expected to buy your own bows and arrows. But please, please do not make any major purchases without consulting one of the Club's Coaches first, as it as all too easy to end up with something not quite right for you. Occasionally equipment is available to hire after you have joined the Club, but this cannot be guaranteed as individuals on the next beginners' course will be given priority.
We anticipate that after six weeks you should be able to shoot with our regular club members who will be able to help and advise you. During the summer months free "improvers" lessons and guidance is offered by our Coaches on the Club field on a Wednesday evening, which is our "Club Night".
Please view the following pages for course, and starter information:
After joining the club, new members start by going through our own Improvers' Scheme in which they must achieve a score of 100 points from two dozen consecutively shot arrows (50% target hits for longbow archers) at a specified progressive distances for each badge. (Maximum 60 yards for adults, shorter distances for juniors according to age).
After this (or even during this period) you can start shooting recognised rounds (set by our National & International Governing Bodies: GNAS. & FITA) and hopefully enter Open Tournaments around the locality and maybe further afield.
