When do we shoot?
Archers shoot outdoors all the year round, with indoor facilities (see the 'Where' pages) from October to March or April.

Target Days
Target Days are when you can shoot rounds which will count towards lowering your handicap and giving you a classification. There are three recognised starting times for these - 11.00 am, 2.00 pm and 7.00 pm, but you should arrive 30 mins before these times to state your preferred rounds and help with the setting up. Target days are on Thursdays all day, Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays, although Club members can shoot at any time for practice. The Club is open to all affiliated members of G.N.A.S. and visitors are welcome to come and shoot with us.

Beginners
Beginners lessons are on Wednesdays from 6:00pm.

Tournaments

The Club organises three and sometimes four tournaments each Summer, one is the Club Championship when all Club Members shoot. The other two tournaments, the Double American in May, and the F.I.T.A. in July are Record Status events and open to all G.N.A.S. Archers, therefore help is needed to see that everything runs smoothly. Everything from setting up the field, to checking scores, provide and run the refreshment stall and raffle needs to be done, either by Club members or members of their families.

In the Spring and just before the County's 'Grand Day' tournament we host three regular oddities:-

  • A short (English) Clout, at 100 yards for gentlemen, 80 yards for ladies.
  • The infamous Pope-Young round, 36 arrows at 36 different distances with a timed end of 45 seconds!
  • A two-way Western longbow round.
